Search Rio Arriba County Court Records

Odyssey access supports Rio Arriba County court records research, but public users still need Case Lookup, re:SearchNM registration, or a court clerk request depending on the record sought.

re:SearchNM is the registered-user system for Odyssey court case information and documents. New Mexico Courts explains that former SOPA accounts migrated to re:SearchNM on April 7, 2023. Access depends on user profile, court policy, and Supreme Court online access rules. For Rio Arriba County court records, this matters because basic case data may be public in Case Lookup while document access is controlled by user type and redaction rules.

Types of Rio Arriba Court Records
Rio Arriba County court records are split by court level. District Court records include felony criminal files, civil cases over $10,000, divorce, name change, child support, kinship guardianship, protection orders, and real-estate foreclosure matters. Magistrate Court records include misdemeanors, DWI/DUI, traffic citations, landlord-tenant cases, civil disputes up to $10,000, and felony preliminary hearings. Probate and county records require care. The Rio Arriba County Probate Court handles informal and uncontested estate matters, while contested estates move to District Court. The Rio Arriba County Clerk handles recorded public records, marriage licenses, elections, probate clerk support, and Board of County Commissioners records. County Clerk searches are separate from judiciary court records, so a deed, recorded marriage item, or board record should be routed to Rio Arriba County Clerk access channels.

What Rio Arriba Court Records Show
A Rio Arriba County court record is not just one sheet. Rio Arriba Court Records Access Rules
New Mexico's courts IPRA page is the formal route when Rio Arriba County court records are not available through online lookup or when a request needs to identify a custodian. Administrative orders matter because online access is controlled by statewide judiciary policy, not only by local courthouse practice.
Restricted Rio Arriba Court Records
Some Rio Arriba County court records are public in part, restricted online, or confidential. Juvenile criminal cases are not displayed in Case Lookup effective July 1, 2007, and juvenile records are confidential under New Mexico juvenile law. Family Violence Protection Act order-of-protection cases are not displayed online effective July 1, 2008. Adoption and sensitive family records may require identity proof or a court order. Mental-health proceedings may be within District Court jurisdiction, but medical and mental-health details are generally restricted or redacted.
Sealed and expunged records do not appear in ordinary public search results. The New Mexico Criminal Records Expungement Act, NMSA 1978, Sections 29-3A-1 through 29-3A-7, allows qualifying people to petition for expungement of criminal and related public records. Eligibility depends on outcome, waiting periods, exclusions, restitution, pending charges, and other facts. The court may require a hearing before an order is entered.

County Clerk records use different contacts. The Clerk has offices at the Rio Arriba County Annex in Espanola and the Rio Arriba Archive Building in Tierra Amarilla, and staff note that they do not conduct searches or give legal advice about documents. That boundary helps prevent a court-record request from being sent to the wrong office.
